• Stage 1: what to know before volunteering

This stage covers the basics to prepare to volunteer abroad. It provides advice on the important steps to follow, such as booking flights, organizing visas, organizing adequate insurance, completing a criminal background check and what to pack. This stage is important as it helps to organize the trip.

• Stage 2 – Stay Safe

Health and safety are important to Phaedra and we want to do everything possible to keep our volunteers out of danger. This stage focuses on the steps that volunteers can take to stay safe and cover things such as: using local transportation, security, enjoying local food, what to do in an emergency or when incidents occur, and how to be sure conscious When you enjoy free time activities.

• Stage 3 – Be a responsible and proactive volunteer

This includes guidance on how to make a positive contribution to a community, in an ethical and responsible manner. It includes advice on how to develop the right expectations, understand and respect different cultures, gain the trust of the local population and protect the rights and needs of children. The great emphasis on this module is to establish the right mindset before volunteering abroad.

Volunteering abroad is an excellent way to experience a new culture, live like a local and make a positive contribution to a community or support the needy. It is also a great way to learn about yourself and grow your understanding of the world.

It is important to do the right preparation before volunteering abroad. While some people will be experienced travelers, many Phaedra volunteers travel alone for the first time. And they have to take into account certain things

Volunteers should always do their own detailed research on the country on which their chosen program is based, in addition to all the information we provide, it is always good to go further, in case doubts arise to be able to resolve them ahead of time.
